Travel?

Well, not this summer. I had a week in Warsau planned with my daughter. A whole week with history and to top it off, a concert with Rammstein.

And I planned to go to Berlin, again this year. But no. No travels this year.

So what can i write about?

Well, I can get you prepared to go by local communications in Berlin, if you ever go there.

BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe) has a good homepage to plan your trip on. www.bvg.de and a app as well. Both are avalible in english if you need it.

Berlin has three zones with different prices. A, B and C.

A and B will get you around most of the places in central Berlin. If you get an weekly pass in zones AB you can always get an extra tickey for zone C if you need it.

Tickets can easily be bought in machine in most of the stations in Berlin. See picture below. The machine can handle different languages and cards from different countries.

After you get your ticket you have to validate it. This is important. If you haven´t validated your ticket, its useless. And there will be checks onboard. Durings my stays in Berlin I have been checked 1-2 times a week. And there is a fine for traveling without a validated ticket. When I´m writing this the fine is 60 euros.

Validate your ticket in a machine like below. This will be found at all stations.

You can get a ticket valid for a week or for a single ride. All prices are on the BVG homepage. I think the price for a week in zones AB are 34 euros. And a single ticket is 2,90.  And you could of course get a ticket for the whole month if you like.

But most important. Get a ticket and validate it. You will be checked. And fined if you don´t have a ticket.
